Mechs & Robot - Construction Kit
Boom Library$0.00
Every mech project starts the same way. You need a small unit for close detail, a large unit for scale, and something in between to bridge them. Most libraries make you build each one from scratch, sourcing and matching elements that were never designed to sit together.
MECHS & ROBOTS solves that at the library level. Eight fully designed characters across four size classes in the Designed edition, built from the same source material of the Construction Kit, with the same design logic applied at every scale. Drop a Microbot and a Titan into the same session. They work together because they were built together.
Eight Robot Characters. One Coherent Sound World.
MECHS & ROBOTS is built around eight fully designed mech characters spanning four size classes: Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. Each character covers 12 sound categories with up to 57 individual variations. The entire set shares a consistent design language, so different sizes work together within the same production without losing coherence.
Twelve Categories. One Complete Character.
Every Designed character covers 12 sound categories — the full mechanical lifecycle from Power Up to Idle, Damage Impact, Transform, and Dismantle. Pick a character for your size class and the core sound design is covered from session open.
A Construction Kit Built for Layering
Four source categories: Metal, Mechanical, Servo, and Synthetic. Real recordings from industrial and mechanical sources, engineered to perform well without processing and to hold up under heavy treatment. Six to twelve variations per element throughout.
Designed for Professional Workflows
Every file follows a standardised UCS-compliant filename structure with embedded metadata for fast searching in Soundminer, Basehead, and Soundly. All formats are 96kHz / 24-bit WAV, compatible with all major DAWs on Windows and Mac.

Mechs & Robots – Designed
Eight Characters, Four Size Classes
Small (Microbot, Nanotron), Medium (Android, Automaton, Summoner), Large (Gunbuster, Colossus, Titan), and Extra Large. Each character includes 12 sound categories: Footstep, Movement, Bodyfall, Damage Impact, Transform, Dismantle, Calculate, Expression, Rotation, Power Up, Power Down, and Idle sequence.
Built to Work Together in Session
Each character includes Footstep (10 variations) and Movement (10 variations) files at their respective size class. Idle sequences are 30-second sequences designed to layer across size classes. All characters share a consistent sonic design language so they can be combined within the same production.

Mechs & Robots – Construction Kit
Real Recordings at Three Scales
Over 4,500 metal footstep and movement recordings at small, medium, and large sizes, captured from heavy industrial hardware selected for sonic character: tool cabinets, ammunition boxes, extractor hoods, steel beams, car jacks, and sheet metal. Servo motors in six configurations covering plastic and metal housing. Mechanical sources from industrial gears, ratchets, and vintage hardware including signal box levers, jet cockpit components, and commercial door mechanisms.
Consistent Structure Throughout
Organised into Metal, Mechanical, Servo, and Synthetic categories, with six variations per recorded element and twelve for metal footstep and movement categories. Synthetic elements were designed as part of the system with the same size-class relationships as the recorded material, not added afterwards.

What We Recorded
MECHS & ROBOTS grew out of a specific frustration: sound designers often keep rebuilding the same mechanical elements on every project. The goal was to build a coherent mechanical system once and build it right.
The Construction Kit recording sessions focused on capturing naturally large, interesting sources rather than relying on pre-processing to manufacture scale. Metal footstep and movement recordings were made at three physical sizes using actual heavy hardware: tool cabinets, ammunition boxes, extractor hoods, steel beams, car jacks, and sheet metal. Each piece was chosen for its sonic character, not just its size. Metal scrape, rattle, and impact categories were recorded with the same approach: real materials, real mass, recorded clean.
The Mechanical category covers the functional world inside a mech: gears, ratchets, clunks, clicks, levers, slides, and rotations, captured using industrial and vintage mechanical sources including signal box levers, typewriters, jet cockpit hardware, sewing machines, winches, and commercial door mechanisms. The Servo category spans six motor configurations: plastic and metal housing in small, medium, and large, captured from real motors including 3D printer arms, cordless screwdrivers, drill presses, electric garage doors, and robot arm components.
Synthetic components were designed specifically to complement the recorded material: granular servo movements, synthetic braams, glitch elements, power-up sweeps, telemetry sequences, and vocal-quality synth droid sounds. These are not generic SFX patches. They were built with the mech design system in mind, using the same relative scale and tonal character as the recorded categories.
Eight Designed characters were built from this material across four size classes, each fully specified with 12 sound categories.
